Anna describes her inspirations and the importance of studying art. In the film she talks about the process of being an artist, which includes trial and error, and how there is a satisfaction when she decides a piece of work is not working which drives her to ‘have another go’. This clip is from the BBC series What is Art? A collection of short films from the BBC following a day in the life of seven UK-based artists and designers For our What is Art? playlist: http://bit.ly/TeachWIA For our Art and Design playlist: http://bit.ly/TeachArtandDesign For Class Clips users, the original reference for the clip was p03nx1mz. ===================== Teaching Art and Design? This clip could be used to demonstrate the importance of looking at the world around you for inspiration, showing how an artist goes from looking at something to creating a piece of work based on their observations. Pupils could be encouraged to make their own work based on ice-creams and confectionary, either sculptural pieces such as the artist makes, or 2D work such as drawings and paintings. It would be good to explore the work of the American artist Wayne Thiebaud in relation to her work too. This clip will be relevant for teaching Art and Design at KS3 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and 3rd Level in Scotland. ===================== For more clips from other subjects at the BBC Teach YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/bbcteach More from BBC Learning Zone: http://www.bbc.co.uk/learningzone More resources from BBC Bitesize: http://www.bbc.co.uk/education ===================== Subscribe to create your own customised playlists, and get notified about our latest clips.
